Lesson 1: The importance of companions – the hadith of the blacksmith and the perfume seller. What is a blacksmith? What is a perfume seller? Why did the Prophet ﷺ compare good and bad friends to these two?
Lesson 2: Understanding the hadith – will our friends help us get to Jannah? How can I be a good companion? a duʿāʾ for righteous companions, and reflection on how it feels to be with good companions.
Lesson 3: “A person is upon the religion of his close friend” – what the Salaf used to say, why it matters, and recognising good and bad friends.
Lesson 4: Tree craft with duʿāʾs and the qualities of good and bad companions.
Lesson 5: The three types of friends – recognising and choosing the right people to be around: the freeloader, the pleasure-seeker, and the friend of virtue. Their meanings, and how the friends we choose is ultimately down to us.
